EXILE ON MAIN ST.
Selling records since 2004
Exile on Main St. opened its doors in 2004 and has been voted “Best Record Store” in Champaign-Urbana nearly every year since. The owner, Jeff Brandt, has only worked in record stores since the early ’90s, first learning the ropes at Periscope CDs and Tapes. In the fall of 2014, we moved to a new, larger space in the historic old train station building on Chestnut St., just a few blocks from our former downtown location in the One Main building on Main Street. The new location is much larger, so we can host more live events on our already famous “record stage” and we’ve expanded our inventory of LPs, CDs, tapes, and video games way beyond what we could cram in the old location. We also sell new and used turntables, which we are all too happy to help you with. Be sure to follow us on Facebook to see a teaser of each week’s new releases. If you don’t see what you want, let us know! We’re happy to special order what you want.
We are also proud to share this great new space with another of our favorite local businesses, Dandelion Vintage. For all your vintage needs, please be sure to check them out as well.
Record Store Day was on April 16, 2016.
We always participate in Record Store Day’s biannual release day — and we order a ton of stuff. If it’s being released on RSD in the U.S., there’s a really good chance we’ll get it. We also host local band performances on RSD to keep things lively. It’s a celebration, after all.
We buy used LPs, CDs, & cassettes, as well as video games for all consoles. We also buy select used stereo equipment and gaming consoles. We pay cash or provide in-store credit. If you plan to sell us something, please call us ahead of time at 217-398-6246 or drop us an e-mail at email@example.com to let us know you’re coming.
We host in-store performances on our custom-built 10-foot stage that looks like Side A of The Rolling Stones’ “Exile on Main St.” LP. Bands who have performed here (or in our old location) include Ride, Kelley Deal, Damien Jurado, Owen, Lonely Trailer, Thoughts Detecting Machines, Motes, as well as tons of other local, regional, and national acts. We love local bands and we’ll gladly consider an in-store for touring acts as well. To be notified about upcoming performances, sign up for our mailing list (in the section below) and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
